The Reason His Father Keeps Going

This month, we want to introduce you Stevenson

He has lived through fear and instability but because of your support, he now have a safe place to be during the day with caring teachers who know his name and the chance to keep learning. In Haiti, that kind of daily safety is life-changing.

Stevenson's mother used to travel outside the city to buy goods and sell them in Port-au-Prince. One day, while she was at the market near the Jérémie wharf, armed men attacked. She never came home.

Now Stevenson’s father sells small baggies of water on the street, trying to earn enough to feed his son. Some days, there is nothing. People mistreat him, and Stevenson has watched his father cry.

His father tells him, “If it were not for you, I might have given up.” But he also tells Stevenson that he does not want his son to suffer the way he has.

For children like Stevenson, school is more than a classroom. It is a place to be fed, cared for, encouraged, and reminded that their future can still hold something good.
