Our first class has graduated!
When we opened our school in 2019, we began with a small group of 7th graders and a big hope that through the school, we could reach many more children and families. This summer, we are so happy to share that those same students graduated.
It is amazing to look back and see how the school grew up around them. We added grades as they moved forward, and later we added elementary school because we wanted to close the education gap before 7th grade. In Haiti, many children arrive to middle school not knowing how to read and are so far behind that catching up feels impossible. Only about one in five young people attend upper secondary school, and now, with gang violence forcing so many schools to close, a graduation like this feels even more important.
We hope you are as proud as we are of what this school has become for so many children and families in Haiti. We are grateful that so many of you have followed and supported us from day one.
